Name: The Bakers Arms
Location:
Swindon
Cut off from its small car park by the windy road from Chiseldon to Liddington, The Bakers Arms is probably as close as it is possible to get to the archetypal little, down-to-earth, country 'local'.
A chimney breast divides the lounge from the public bar and adds much to the cosy atmosphere in what a CAMRA pub guide described as "a bright, sparkling little pub".
It is also just off the beaten track. Whether that 'track' is the A346 Swindon-Marlborough road, which is only a stone's throw read more -

Name: The Bakers Arms
Location:
Swindon
'The Bakers' celebrated a century of ownership by Arkell's in 1996, but it was built back in 1847 by William Slade of Moredon. He also owned The Red Lion (now renamed The Boundary House) even though by trade he was a butcher!
The butcher sold it to a baker and in 1866 the proprietor was William Perrin. He - like many Victoria bakers - offered a valuable service to the local community who would take along their own bread to bake in his oven.
Unfortunately, Mr Perrin also sold them beer to read more -
Name: The Bolingbroke Hotel
Location:
Swindon
The Bolingbroke Arms, 3/4 of a mile from Wootton Bassett on the Purton road, has been recently renovated to a very high standard.
With bedrooms decorated in the Cotswold style and gorgeous views over the Wiltshire countryside, this hotel is perfect for short breaks. It is also convenient for West Swindon, making it useful for business stop-overs during the week.
The hotel is developing its menu, concentrating on traditional and modern British and European food, and to add to the atmosphere read more -
Name: The Boundary House
Location:
Swindon
The Boundary House has had the best of both worlds. Built in 1877, it is - on the outside at least - one of those old-fashioned, solid, three-storey pubs, complete with smart upper storey gables and even tall, impressive chimneys.
If that wasn't grand enough, it was treated to a thorough refurbishment in 1990 which included the addition of a conservatory extension and an ironic change of name.
It once marked the boundary with the hamlet of Moredon, which had long since been absorbed as a read more -

Situated at the bottom end of the elongated village of Wanborough, the Brewers Arms is the perfect mix of modern and traditional.

In the the summer months, diners and drinkers can also enjoy the Brewers' excellent beer and varied menu al fresco on a heated terrace or in the expansive garden (with play area for the kids) to the rear.

Name: The Clifton
Location:
Swindon
Drinkers are always assured of a hearty welcome at the Clifton - though we cannot guarantee that the hospitality extends to the resident ghost.
The pub is believed to have been built on the site of an old priory, an arrangement apparently not entirely acceptable to a former nun who is now thought to walk the building. She has appeared most often in an upstairs bedroom, but regularly also ventures into the cellar and has sometimes been known to pop into the bar!
The Clifton is easily found read more -
Name: The Crown Inn
Location:
Swindon
When Arkell's purchased The Crown Inn in 1986 it acquired a former free house with an enviable reputation among drinkers and diners alike. It is still a place that people of all ages flock to in order to enjoy a relaxing, comfortable day out, whether they visit during the daytime or in the evening.
Close to one of Wiltshire's historic white horses at Hackpen, it is easily found, just off the main Swindon-Devizes road.
Undeniably pretty on the outside, The Crown Inn is just as attractive i read more -
