Email this pub The Countryman Inn is a traditional rural hostelry with fantastic open country views, warming log fires in the winter, a cosy bar and an award winning ‘a la carte’ restaurant. The menu reflects the changing seasons and offers good hearty home cooked dishes of traditional rural food all year.
Whenever possible quality local produce is used. Free-range meats and garden vegetables from local farms are flavoured with home grown herbs, and fresh fish is supplied from boats working out of Shoreham and Newhaven. Why not try starting with homemade pate or a tomato and mozzarella salad with fresh basil? And finish with a lemon syllabub or hot steamed treacle sponge. For the smaller appetite there are traditional ploughman’s lunches and healthy options such as the countryman smoked salmon, feta cheese and olive salad. Whatever the choice, you can be assured of freshly prepared quality food served with a smile.
