 Email this pub ''A country gem and everything a country pub should be'' was how one kind guest described 'The Butterleigh' following his stay with us. Find a tranquil moment to relax, reflect and converse if that takes your fancy. The Butterleigh is a great place for conversation between people and not machines. A moment when the outside world does not intrude. This is Butterleigh, simple, delightfully friendly and solidly traditional.

Located in the heart of the heart of the beautiful rolling countryside of Mid-Devon, yet within easy reach of Exeter, Tiverton and places further afield, Butterleigh is an attractive village and the pub is situated opposite the pretty 13th Century St. Matthew's Church. The original part of the building is a 400 year old Devon longhouse and with warming fires in winter and a peaceful summer garden, there are plenty of spots to while away an hour or two. Our menus offer a delicious selection of dishes, majoring on solid pub classics made from fresh, local ingredients and ranging from lighter meals at lunchtime, to regularly changing specials and grills in the evenings.
The 'Landlord's Roast', our home-style carvery served on Sunday lunchtime is great value and highly popular. Our range of well kept traditional English ales and real Devon cider will slake the dryness of the most serious thirst - just ensure that you duck out of the driving, or for greater enjoyment, why not stay for business or pleasure in one of our four comfortable letting bedrooms?
