 Email this pub The award-winning Langford Inn at Lower Langford, Bristol has a new attraction – good food and good pub accommodation with seven beautifully finished en-suite rooms built in the former coaching inn’s old stable blocks. There are four double rooms, one with
disabled access, two family rooms and a luxury suite in the old hay loft.
Landlord Phillip Howells, who has run it with his wife Claire for nearly five years, said: “We’re back to being a traditional inn, as it was in the 1600s, catering for travellers, now using Bristol Airport, tourists and business people.” Old oak beams and floorboards have been retained, but there are modern additions including free wi-fi, TV with DVD, power showers and one room has a double jacuzzi!
Guests only need to pop next door to find out why the pub was named Best Country Pub in 2007 and 2009 in the Bristol and Bath Social Club’s annual awards, as well as winning the gold award for
hospitality and service. Claire’s famous home-baked pies and a superb range of fish – oysters, crab and line-caught sardines, for example – are matched by an extensive wine list.
There’s also a choice of beers, Brains SA, Butcombe and a guest ale, plus Thatchers cider, to help cheer the weary traveller or those visiting Cheddar,Wookey,Wells,Weston or any of the area’s other attractions which are all a short distance from the inn.
